「Windows 7」のサポートが2020年1月14日に終了することについて説明するMicrosoftのブログ記事
Microsoftが公開したブログ記事によれば、同社はユーザーに対してWindows 10への移行を促すため、4月からWindows 7の画面にサポート終了について注意を促す通知を表示する。この通知は、ユーザーが選択すれば表示を中止することも可能だという。

Windows 7がリリースされたのは2009年10月22日。2020年1月14日に予定されているサポート打ち切りは、10年間で製品サポートを修了するというMicrosoftの方針に基づいている。Windows 7向けの「Internet Explorer（IE）」のサポートも、2020年1月14日で終了する。
サポート終了後もWindows 7を使い続けることは可能だが、その場合、セキュリティリスクやウイルスに対してPCが脆弱になるとMicrosoftは警告。「自分とデータを守るためにも、最新のセキュリティ更新プログラムが配信されるWindows 10のような現代のOSにアップグレードすることが大切だ」と強調している。
